The method of electrolytic polishing offers the possibility of polishing out even intricate shapes in the treated workpiece. However, in spite of good throwing power, in some cases there are limitations on the quality of finish attanable. These cases include the electropolishing of deep holes, cavities and crevices into which the cathode cannot be introduced. The limitations may be explored using the crevice cell.
