These features may be achieved also in the case of electropolishing of plain carbon steels or low-alloy steels. This work deals with an elucidation of electropolishing of ferrous materials ranging from pure iron through carbon steels, with increasing carbon content, to a few low-alloy steels. The characteristics of electropolishing stainless and acid-proof steels are well known, and for this reason were not considered in this research.
