  <abstract>The fast and simple photoacoustic method of measuring the thermal diffusivity of optically non-opaque solid-state meterials is presented. The methods is based on the measuring of the photoacoustic signal amplitude for the illumination of the front and rear surfaces. On the basis of this the ratio of the amplitudes of both photoacoustic signal versus frequency is evaluated. Comparing it with the theoretical characteristics makes possible the calculation of thermal diffusivity coefficient. It is calculated on the basis of the fitting of the experimantal ratio amplitude characteristic with the pattern ones. Experimental results illustrating the procedure are presented and discussed for the Hysol MG-40F-R and stained glass.</abstract>
