520 _aElectropolishing metals provides smooth, bright, and reflective surfaces that exhibit superior corrosion resistance compared to untreated metals. These features may be achieved also in the case of electropolishing of plain carbon steels or low-alloy steels. This work deals with an elucidation of electropolishing of ferrous materials ranging from pure iron through carbon steels, with increasing carbon content, to a few low-alloy steels. The characteristics of electropolishing stainless and acid-proof steels are well known, and for this reason were not considered in this research.
